Inviting beaches set among nature and culture.
Naxos was the first Greek colony founded in Sicily in 735 b. C. An extensive archaeological site and a museum are reminiscent of the Magna Graecia era. For a long time, Giardini Naxos was one of the many typical fishing villages along Sicily’s east Ionian coast.
Today it is a pleasant and modern resort with stunning beaches and an attractive sea promenade full of cafés, restaurants, shops and boutiques. The bustling town of Taormina can be admired from Giardini Naxos beyond the startling bay with turquoise-coloured water. The town is perched high up on the hills and can be easily reached by bus (bus connections all day every 40 minutes) or by taxi. Looking in the opposite direction from the bay, the stunning and magnificent Etna volcano stands out, which can be reached in around 45 minutes by car, taxi or guided tours.
Giardini Naxos is easy to reach. It is just 40 minutes from Catania international airport by bus, taxi or car taking the A18 motorway (Giardini Naxos exit). From Palermo airport, taking the A19 motorway to Catania and the A18 from Catania, Giardini Naxos can be reached in about three hours.
